At Cumulus Engineering, we deliver innovative water management solutions that build community resilience, protect the environment, and support the transition to cleaner energy.
Cumulus Engineering was founded in 2022 and is wholly owned and operated by Directors Julian Skipworth and Sarah Hollis, who between them have more than 20 years experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, floodplain management and urban flood mapping.

Julian Skipworth
Director | Principal Engineer
Julian is a Chartered Environmental Engineer with over 13 years experience in floodplain management, flood modelling, hydrology and project management and is passionate about making his client's lives easier and delivering practical and timely engineering solutions.
Sarah Hollis
Director | Senior Engineer
Sarah has over 7 years industry experience and is highly skilled at technical modelling. Sarah enjoys collaborating with clients, community and other industry practitioners not only to achieve better outcomes but to create a greater understanding of surface water modelling and water management.
Vitaly Leschen
Senior Engineer
Vitaly has 5 years of industry experience in various hydrologic/hydraulic modelling packages and a variety of floodplain management projects. Vitaly enjoys delivering real-world outcomes and using the modelling to provide beneficial outcomes for the client, stakeholders and community.
Sarah Redfern
Senior Engineer
Sarah is a chartered environmental engineer with over 13 years’ experience working across a wide range of disciplines including water resources, hydrological and hydraulic modelling, environmental compliance, and contaminated land management. She is currently specialising in construction flood risk management.
Michael Nixon
Project Engineer
Michael has supported our team for over 3 years, initially as an undergraduate. Michael has since graduated with a Masters in Environmental Engineering and has recently been promoted to a Project Engineer role. Michael is a skilled hydrologic and hydraulic modeler and is also a keen Python enthusiast.
Yi (Wennie) Wei
Graduate Engineer
Wennie joined Cumulus Engineering as a Graduate Engineer in early 2024, having recently earned her Master of Environmental Engineering from the University of Melbourne. She possesses a robust background and keen interest in sustainability and water engineering.
